American Woman
“Fashion fades, only style remains the same.”, disse Coco Chanel. E mais uma vez, estava certa. Numa edição extremamente limitada, Anna Wintour, editora da Vogue, seleccionou dos arquivos da revista cinco raros retratos de algumas mulheres Americanas verdadeiramente icónicas e stylish, fotografadas para a Vogue.A série excluisva, intitulada “American Woman” – que inclui fotografias de Grace Kelly, Babe Paley, Ali MacGraw, C. Z. Guest and Jacqueline Bouvier (mais tarde Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis) – foi vendida pelo site Net-a-Porter. Sinceramente, acho que todos os retratos são lindos, mas talvez escolha o de Babe Paley como o meu favorito, adoro a luz, as cores e principalmente, a sua pose e expressão facial.

In an extremely limited-edition, Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour selected from the magazine’s archives five rare prints of some truly iconic and stylish American women, photographed for Vogue. The exclusive “American Woman” series – that includes prints from Grace Kelly, Babe Paley, Ali MacGraw, C. Z. Guest and Jacqueline Bouvier (later Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis) – was sold by Net-a-Porter. I think all the portraits are absolutely beautifull, but maybe I’ll choose Babe Paley’s as my favorite, I love the light, the colors and most of all, her pose and face expression.

The Turban Obsession
Desde que há umas semanas encontrei uma loja na baixa lisboeta que vende turbantes, tenho andado obcecada com a ideia de ter um. Na loja (não me lembro do nome, mas vou tentar saber em breve) há turbantes feitos à mão, com inspiração Indiana – SJP usa no Sexo e a Cidade 2, mas na realidade foi Grace Kelly quem o imortalizou há várias décadas atrás. Esta estação, nas colecções Resort 2011 de Marchesa e YSL (que têm muito mais para ver do que apenas os turbantes), apareceu um turbante moderno, uma mistura entre uma fita para cabelo e um turbante, e ultimamente tenho reparado que este acessório saltou para a rua. Entretanto encontrei dois vídeos tutoriais sobre como fazer o nosso próprio turbante, e devo dizer que é mais fácil do que parece. Então, qual é o veredicto, sim, não, é apenas para usar no Verão…? Since a couple of weeks ago I found a shop in downtown Lisbon that sells turbans, I have been obsessing about having one. At the shop (I don’t remember the name but I will try to know it soon) there are really old fashion (hand made!) turbans, sort of Indian inspired turbans – SJP wears it in Sex and the City 2, but in fact it was Grace Kelly who truly immortalized it, several decades ago. This season, at Resort 2011 collections from Marchesa and YSL (which are so much more than just the turbans), appeared a modern turban, a mix between a hair band and a turban, and lately I’ve been noticing that this accessory has also been seen on the street. Meanwhile, I found two tutorial videos on how to make your own turban. It’s easier than one would think. So, what’s the verdict, yes, no, is it only a SS trend…? Speak out!

Olá! Peço desculpa pela falta de posts. Agora que a NYFW já acabou e que a London FW já começou, é altura de acelerar para acompanhar, o que parece impossível no que toca à moda. Mas mesmo assim, há que tentar. Aqui estão alguns dos meus vídeos favoritos da NYFW, e em breve vou “postar” sobre Londres. Estou super curiosa para ver Alexander McQueen e Stella McCartney… Até lá, aqui ficam Proenza Shouler, Michael Kors, Marc by Marc Jacobs and 3.1 Phillip Lim.
Hello! Sorry for the lack of posts. Now that NYFW is over, and London FW has begun, and it’s time to speed up, in order to keep up, which is virtually impossible when it comes to fashion. But even so, we try. Here are some of my favorite videos from NYFW, and soon I’ll post about London. I am so curious to see Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney… Until then, here are Proenza Shouler, Michael Kors, Marc by Marc Jacobs and 3.1 Phillip Lim.
Proenza Shouler – adoro os looks clássicos mas irreverentes, com saias-lápis, blusas e alguns colares lindooos;
Proenza Shouler – love the classy but still edgy looks, with pencil skirts, blouses and some amazing necklaces;
Mickael Kors – gostei imenso das saias e vestidos compridos, imensas malhas de Verão e tons neutros suaves com alguns apontamentos de cor – no fundo o apelativo descontraído chic look da mulher Americana;
Michael Kors – beautiful long skirts and dresses, a lot of thin knits and soft neutral tones with some splashes of color – the appealing laid back chic American woman look;
Marc by Marc Jacobs – uma colecção muito jovem com vestidos lindos, mas também macacões, calças, camisas – adorei quase tudo!

3.1 Phillip Lim – desde os beges até aos cinzentos e até mesmo preto, a sua colecção SS11 está recheada de calças, camisas e casacos, perfeitos para um look minimalista.

NYFW SS11 – Marc Jacobs RTW
Eu disse que não ia falar muito sobre a NYFW SS11, mas não resisti. Andei a ver alguns vídeos dos desfiles e adorei. Há obviamente imensos vídeos/desfiles/designers, mas começo com o meu preferido, Marc Jacobs. A sua colecção RTW está recheada de cor, formas, padrões, diferentes texturas e ainda cabelo e acessórios com um estilo muito especial, numa ode aos divertidos e excitantes anos 70. Aqui fica o vídeo!
I said I wouldn’t talk much about NYFW SS11, but I just couldn’t resist. I saw some videos from the shows and I just loved it. There are a lot, but let’s start with my favourite designer, Marc Jacobs. His RTW collection was full of colour, shapes, patters, different textures and very special acessories and hair style, in an ode to the fun and exciting 70′s. Take a look at the show!

New York Fashion Week – SS11
Ainda é Verão bem quente lá fora, nós já andamos a sonhar com botas, casacos, calças e por aí, mas durante esta mesma semana, a cidade de Nova Iorque recebe a New York Fashion Week – Primavera Verão 2011. Demasiado cedo para falar de tendências SS? Talvez para nós. Mas de qualquer forma, the show must go on. Especialmente o espectáculo de rua. Deixo aqui alguns looks street-chic de modelos, editoras de moda ou simples desconhecidas, muito muito voguish. Enjoy.
It is still hot Summer out there, we are already dreaming with boots, coats, trousers and so on, but as we speak, or in fact write/read, NYC is receiving the New York Fashion Week – Spring Summer 2011. Too soon to talk about SS trends? Well, maybe for us. But anyhow, the show must go on. Specially the street show. I leave you some street-chic looks from models, fashion editor, or simple, but very very voguish, strangers. Enjoy.

Lanvin for H&M
Depois da colaboração do ano passado entre H&M e a designer Sonya Rykiel, chegou a hora de Lanvin. A colecção chegará a lojas seleccionadas a 20 de Novembro, e o director criativo da marca, Alber Elbaz, promete partilhar os seus sonhos e os sonhos de Lanvin através da H&M, de forma a poder chegar a um público maior. Uma coisa é certa, nós já estamos a sonhar. Para saber mais sobre esta colecção de luxo basta ir a hm.com! Entretano, aqui fica um vídeo da campanha e alguns looks da colecção FW 2010 de Lanvin (são IMENSOS porque adorei tudo).
After last year’s collaboration between H&M and the designer Sonya Rykiel, it’s time for Lanvin. The collection will be in selected stores on November 20th, and the brand’s creative director, Alber Elbaz, promises to share his dreams, Lanvin’s dreams through H&M in order to reach a bigger audience.
